Golden Age Housing in Houston

Companion Shared Living for Seniors in Houston, TX

Golden Age Housing™ proudly serves seniors across Houston and surrounding counties, offering a thoughtful alternative for individuals who don’t need assisted living—but shouldn’t be living alone.

Our homes are located in quiet residential neighborhoods and designed for seniors who value real community, stability, and independence in a home-like setting.

What Is Golden Age Housing™?

Golden Age Housing™ is a modern approach to senior living that blends independence with companionship. Instead of living alone or entering costly facilities, seniors share comfortable homes with carefully matched companions, creating a supportive, social, and dignified lifestyle.

Golden Age Housing™ is ideal for seniors who:

  • Live independently but don’t want to be alone
  • Desire companionship and daily social interaction
  • Want a safe, stable home environment
  • Prefer a residential setting over institutional care

Our Mission

No senior should have to age alone.

We believe the golden years should be filled with connection, comfort, and community—where seniors feel valued, safe, and supported every day.

Companion Shared Living — Designed With Purpose

Golden Age Housing™ homes are not nursing facilities and not full-time care environments. They are real homes designed to support everyday living while reducing isolation.

Each Home Offers:

  • Private or Semi-Private Living Spaces
Shared kitchens, living rooms, and common areas
  • Carefully Matched Companions
Compatibility-based matching for natural social connection
  • Comfortable Residential Settings
Quiet neighborhoods that feel like home—not institutions
  • Emotional Well-Being
Routine, belonging, and community that support healthy aging

This shared living model promotes emotional well-being, stability, and dignity—key elements of healthy aging.

House Manager Support (Non-Medical)

Each Golden Age Housing™ home is supported by a non-medical house manager who visits regularly to ensure the household runs smoothly.

House Manager Support May Include:

  • Grocery ordering and light meal coordination
  • Set up weekly medication reminders (non-medical)
  • Assistance with scheduling appointments
  • Household organization and oversight
  • Ensuring common areas remain clean and functional

Important: House managers are not live-in caregivers and do not provide medical or hands-on personal care.

House Manager Support (Non-Medical)

If you’re worried about a parent living alone, you’re not overreacting.

Frequently Asked Questions For Families

Q: Is this the same as assisted living or a nursing home?
A: No. Golden Age Housing™ is designed for independent seniors who can manage their own daily activities. We provide companionship and non-medical household support, not hands-on medical care or assistance with daily living tasks.

Q: How do you match seniors with compatible companions?
A: We conduct thorough interviews to understand each senior’s lifestyle, preferences, routines, and personality. Matching is based on factors such as sleep schedules, activity levels, social preferences, and shared interests.

Q: What happens if my loved one needs more care in the future?
A: Golden Age Housing™ is designed for independent seniors. If care needs increase beyond what our model supports, we work with families to identify appropriate next-step care options.

Q: Can we visit anytime? How involved can family be?
A: Yes. Family involvement is encouraged. Visits during reasonable hours are welcome, and families are encouraged to stay connected and involved.

Q: How much does it cost compared to assisted living?
A: Golden Age Housing™ is typically 40–60% less expensive than traditional assisted living facilities in Houston. Costs vary based on room type and location.

Q: What if my loved one has dietary restrictions or special needs?

A: Residents manage their own meals and dietary needs. House managers can help coordinate grocery delivery and meal assistance if needed as an add-on service.

For Caseworkers & Referral Partners

Q: Do you accept Medicaid or other public benefits?
A: We accept private pay, select SSI placements, and some veteran benefits on a case-by-case basis. We do not currently accept Medicaid.

Q: What are the admission requirements?
A: Residents must generally be 60+, able to manage activities of daily living (ADLs), mobile without extensive assistance, and able to participate in a shared living environment.

Q: Do you provide transportation to medical appointments?
A: House managers can assist with scheduling, but transportation is the resident’s responsibility. Many residents use family support, rideshare services, or community transportation.

Q: How quickly can you place a client?
A: Placement timelines vary based on availability and compatibility. In some cases, placement can occur within 24 hours to two weeks.

Q: What oversight and monitoring do you provide?
A: House managers visit regularly to oversee household operations, coordinate services, and ensure resident well-being. Communication with families and caseworkers is maintained as appropriate.

Q: Are your homes licensed or regulated?
A: Golden Age Housing™ operates as shared residential housing for independent seniors, not as a licensed care facility. We follow all applicable housing and safety regulations.

Q: What is the resident-to-house-manager ratio?
A: Each house manager typically oversees 3–4 homes with 4–6 residents per home, ensuring adequate oversight while maintaining affordability.

Q: Do you conduct background checks?

A: Yes. All residents and staff undergo screening to ensure safety and compatibility.
